2017年からTimmy Regisford率いるSHELTERのミックス・エンジニアとしても活躍しているDave D*SOL Riveraが、およそ1年振りとなる自主制作アルバムシリーズの最新作”deeparture Vol.2“をリリース。
NYCにある音楽制作 / オーディオエンジニアリングの学校Institute of Audio Researchを2003年に卒業し、現在はSticky Audio Labsのチーフ・オーディオ・エンジニアとして働く彼は、SHELTERをはじめ、OsunladeのYoruba Records、Bradford JamesのSeed Recordingsなど、多くの著名レーベルでその手腕を振るってきた。
本作では、Ezra CollectiveやErykah Baduのカバーをはじめ、どことなくFela Kutiインスパイアを感じるShabaka、美麗なキーボードワークが光るHold On、ダンサーがフロアで踊るシーンが目に浮かぶようなMy Bodyなど、聴きごたえのある18曲が収録されている。
また、フルアルバムを購入するとボーナストラックとしてハイレゾ音源もダウンロードすることが出来、生粋のミックス・エンジニアによる高音質サウンドも楽しめる。
どことなく厳かでネイチャーな雰囲気を纏いながらも、ダンスフロアにしっかり順応する素晴らしいDEEP HOUSEが堪能出来る、大推薦の1枚。
Dave D*SOL Rivera, who has been active as a mixing engineer for SHELTER, led by Timmy Regisford, since 2017, has released his latest self-produced album series, “deeparture Vol.2“, approximately one year after the previous installment.
A graduate of the Institute of Audio Research (a music production/audio engineering school in NYC) in 2003, he currently serves as the Chief Audio Engineer at Sticky Audio Labs. He has lent his expertise to numerous prominent labels, including SHELTER, Osunlade’s Yoruba Records, and Bradford James’s Seed Recordings.
This album features 18 tracks that are well worth listening to, including covers of Ezra Collective and Erykah Badu, “Shabaka” which vaguely feels inspired by Fela Kuti, “Hold On” which shines with beautiful keyboard work, and “My Body” which vividly brings to mind dancers on the floor.
Furthermore, those who purchase the full album can download high-resolution audio files as a bonus track, allowing listeners to enjoy the high-quality sound crafted by a true mixing engineer.
This is a highly recommended album, offering superb DEEP HOUSE that, while possessing a somewhat solemn and natural atmosphere, perfectly adapts to the dance floor.
