A Japan tour featuring Danny Krivit, a familiar face at Body & SOUL, has been confirmed! The tour is being organized by Hisa Ishioka of KING STREET. Kicking off in Tokyo, the tour will see him perform gigs in five different cities.

DJとしてのキャリアをスタートした1971年から今年で54年。1979年にRoxyのオープニングそしてメインDJを４年間務め、その後Paradise Garage, Studio 54、The Choice、The Loft、Shelter、Sound Factory Barといったその時代を象徴するクラブで活躍してきたが、96年から始まったパーティによってその名はNYを飛び越え世界中に広まった。それまでMr.K名義で秀逸なリエディット作品を残してきた彼だが、MFSB “Love Is The Message”、Cymande “Bra”、歴史上最も多くサンプルされた James Brown “Funky Drummer” に続き、数々のコンピレーションCDが発売されている。それらのほとんどはダンス・クラシックス中心だが、知名度を一気に高めたのはデリック・メイのカヴァーに手を加えたSoul Central “Strings Of Life (Danny Krivit Re-Edit)”の爆発的ヒットである。新旧こだわらず、自分が惚れこんだ楽曲の魅力を（時にはエディットを施し）最大限に活かしてフロアに届けること。その姿勢はパラダイス・ガラージやロフトといった70年代から受け継がれてきた精神でもあるが、当時のサウンドを継承しつつ、現在集客的にも最も成功しているNYのレギュラー・パーティと言えば、彼がレジデントを務める<718sessions>に他ならない。ダニー・クリヴィットはDJというアートフォームの一つの完成形であり、円熟期を迎えたいまだからこそ、あらためて彼のプレイをじっくりと堪能してもらいたい。
It has been 54 years since he started his DJ career in 1971. After serving as the opening and main DJ at Roxy for four years starting in 1979, he went on to play at iconic clubs of that era, including Paradise Garage, Studio 54, The Choice, The Loft, Shelter, and Sound Factory Bar. However, it was the party he began in 1996 that truly launched his name beyond NYC and globally.
Prior to this, he had already left behind brilliant re-edits under the moniker Mr. K. Following his work on tracks like MFSB’s “Love Is The Message,” Cymande’s “Bra,” and James Brown’s “Funky Drummer” (one of the most sampled songs in history), numerous compilation CDs of his work have been released. While most of these center on dance classics, his popularity soared with the explosive hit of his re-edit of a Derrick May cover: Soul Central’s “Strings Of Life (Danny Krivit Re-Edit).”
His philosophy is to take tracks he genuinely loves—regardless of whether they are old or new—and maximize their appeal (sometimes through editing) before delivering them to the dance floor. This ethos is a spirit passed down from 70s venues like Paradise Garage and The Loft.
Today, while continuing to inherit that original sound, the most successful regular party in New York, both in terms of attendance and popularity, is none other than <718sessions>, where he holds the residency.
Danny Krivit represents a completed form of the DJ art form. Now, in the midst of his prime, we strongly encourage everyone to fully experience and appreciate his masterful playing.
